Veronica* did not realize she had been sterilized while giving birth to her daughter until four years later when, after failing to conceive, she and her boyfriend consulted a doctor.

"I was like 'Okay, fine', because there was nothing I could do by then, but I was angry. I hate [those nurses]," she told IRIN/PlusNews. Veronica tested HIV-positive during a routine antenatal visit and was given a form to sign by nurses at the hospital where she went to deliver.

Tears run down my face each night when I think about the fact I will not be able to bare children anymore just because of my HIV status. But now I am forced to wipe away those tears because I am not allowed to speak out againt the injustice that happended to me.

My pain is so much that I cannot be silent anymore and want to be more than just a story in a newspaper. I want action for what happend to me and I demand answers.

Photo by GypsyFae An inspiring story of how civil society groups are helping people with TB in Namibia - helping beyond treatment to help people with TB live life with dignity. Symptoms of tuberculosis arthritis are similar to those associated with pulmonary TB, except that the patient experiences severe pain in the affected joint, decreased movement and muscle spasms. The disease is treatable using the same medication, as would be used in treating ordinary pulmonary TB but in order to limit the permanent damage, it is important that the disease is treated promptly.
